Feeling a little bit under the weather this week, so unfortunately I didn’t have time to prepare a brand new episode, but it has given me the chance to re-air one of my most favourite groovetherapy mixes - The Edit Mix Special Pt1. This episode was originally broadcast in 2004, but is really a timeless mix of frenetic cut-ups, freestyle electro, and machine gun edits. Unfortuantely there is no longer a tracklisting for this episode, but I can tell you that the mix comprises of some classic hard to find cut ups from the 80’s, interwoven with a bunch of unreleased (and now equally hard to find) edits that I obtained from the classic “Edit-Headz” bulletin board many years back - All cut up, mixed, retouched and re-edited by myself. In it’s original broadcast, this episode also contained an interview with Albert Cabrera from the Latin Rascals. I have removed the interview fom the mix for this repeat, but have plans to re-upload the interview in it’s complete form to the groovetherapy site in the near future.

A special look at the career of FRED WESLEY, on the eve of his Australian tour. Due to how incredibly extensive Wesley’s discography is, I’ve decided to focus this mix more on his various guest appearances on other people albums, rather than his time with James Brown, The JB’s, and Parliament (Which really could have taken up the entire radio show on their own). While Wesley definately has a signiture and unmistakable sound, I hope that with this mix, you can get a sense of just how diverse his range actually was. You might be hard pressed to hear that infamous trombone on some of these songs, as it is quite often not a dominant instrument for many of these tracks, but that really stands as a testament to how talented he was an arranger and producer for many of these albums. Finally, this mix really only scratches the surface of the extensive career of Wesley. There are still so many albums that should have made it into this mix, but due to the radio shows time restaint I obviously couldn’t fit anymore into the mix. So I hope you enjoy this taste of who I consider one of the funkiest musicians on the planet, and I hope to see you at one of the live shows this weekend (While the Sunday night performance is sold out, a second monday night performance has just been announced at the Basement, with yours truly doing DJ support for both nights).

A real special treat for this weeks episode. My old mate JIGZAW GEOFF from Brisbane, aka BLUNTED STYLUS has put together an incredible mix exclusive for Groove Therapy. He has been a fan of the show for some time, which is cool as I have been a huge fan of his music ever since I first heard his electro edits that he used to turn out on the regular in the very early 90’s. Geoff has a long history up north, a crazy record collection to match, and has been a pivotal figure in aussie hip hop since the earliest days. Most of you will be familiar with his time with the Resin Dogs, where he lent his production skills to the first couple of albums, which is really only a drop in the ocean compared to all the other stuff Geoff has turned out over the years. More recently, he has put out a limited 7inch under the name BB GUNN (which gets the Blunted Stylus remix treatment in the following mix). You can pick up “No Other” direct through his website www.bbgunn.com.au, and all good record stores around Australia.
