I’m finding it hard to believe that in the ten years this show has been broadcasting, I have never had a guest mix from my good buddy and oldschool partner DJ KATCH. Those of you with even a passing interest in the local Hip Hop scene will know his name, and if you don’t it’s definitely time to get acquainted. Katch is not only one of the hardest working men in the business, running the very fresh Hydrofunk record label, but also finds time to be the production brains behind the Resin Dogs, 2 Dogs, and a host of other incredible local acts. It’s also worth mentioning that he is legendary around the DJ circuit of Australia, having cut his teeth as a DJ back in the mid 80s - which puts him in that exclusive club of pretty much being at the start of things way back when.

As a young DJ coming into the game myself, I often looked up to Katch - Even though I lived 2 states away. When I finally did meet him (in the mid 90’s) we clicked, and I had the honor of DJ’ing many places and spaces with the man. We were partners in crime for those few years I relocated to Brisbane - and I’m extremely proud to have him finally feature on my radio show, on the eve of it’s tenth anniversary no less!

On the topic of the tenth anniversary: Long time listeners of the podcast will no doubt be familiar with that infamous “door bell” sound I begin each episode with. This week I bless you with the original song where I took the sample (another reference to my Brisbane years, where my much earlier radio show “What It Is” took it’s name from). As of next weeks episode, the 10th anniversary, I’ll be featuring a brand new introduction to the show produced by another talented old Brisbane mate Blunted Stylus.
